Spotify: Girls can't Never Say
Summer Walker Spotify Poster (2021)
An artist and song was chosen to complete a Spotify poster advertising their work. Summer Walker, an R&B artist was used in this design and the song 'Girl's Need Love' was chosen. This piece represents how women are often taught they have to behave in a certain way and are usually seen to be held at a certain standard compared to men. In the design roughs we see this example in a parental advisory sticker inspiration as well as the smoking effect both deemed as "explicit" and "bad" within one's community. The song and chosen quote "Girls can't never say" brings attention to the subject matter.
Inspired by the color scheme of Summer Walker's 'Girl's Need Love' official music video, a pink and purple color scheme was used.

Though stereotypically girly colors were used a since of rebellion was created with the typography. Creating a unique cursive typeface influenced by Salamat allowed the rebellious smoke text to stand out.
Each idea created spoke rebellion. Such as a play on the parental advisory sticker, tape over a girls mouth, and a smoke text. Each of the aforementioned speak to the common stereotypes of women.
Task
Create a poster advertising a music artist and a song quote for the Spotify music app.
