Five Zoo
(2021)

Five Zoo, an idea for a New York City Zoo. Here an entire design was created to represent the city of New York.

Research was applied to look into the lifestyle and history of the city, including typography seen throughout the city such as Helvetica and, the colors and materials seen on the Statue of Liberty. The name Five Zoo came about to represent the five boroughs of New York City: Queens, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island.

The 3 Animals chosen as the 3 main icons were a beaver (the state animal), a pigeon (a common bird seen throughout the city), and a Lion (to represent the NYC Public Library). The details seen within the Logo and icons are the pattern seen on the windows of the abandoned City Hall Station, one of the original 28 stations of the New York City Subway which opened in 1904 and shut down in 1945. Overall, the design for Five Zoo speaks greatly of New York City.
